Leadership Development

While some believe leaders are born, Professional BusinessWomen of California believes that most leaders are made. The art of leadership is an acquired skill and one that comes from experience and a commitment to learning and listening. One goal of the Professional BusinessWomen of California is to lead women's increasing participation in the workplace until their full participation at all levels becomes the natural state. PBWC creates the environment to bring resources to women to use in furthering their leadership skills.

"PBWC provides an excellent forum for women to share ideas and learn from each other. Chevron women who have attended have gained more insight into and skills for impactful leadership. They have returned to the workplace with increased enthusiasm to tackle the challenges ahead."

Lydia Beebe, Corporate Secretary
Chevron

"Professional development is more than just developing another job skill. It’s about understanding your potential and having confidence in your ability to lead others. Bank of America supports PBWC because it creates an environment where women can acquire more confidence, competency and effective leadership."

Connie Beck, President Private Bank – West
Bank of America

"Leadership is not simply having confidence in your own ideas-it is also recognizing and learning from the ideas of others. The PBWC offers a unique opportunity for women from different backgrounds, professions, and generations to learn from each other."

Rebecca Roberts, Host and Managing Editor Digital West, KQED-TV

"Leadership is both innate and acquired. You provide the C's - chemistry, charisma, and commitment - and PBWC helps acquire the S's - skills, strategy, structure and style. When it comes to professional development, PBWC makes sure that you are provided with the best instructors in leadership style and effectiveness - from all walks of corporate life. PBWC is an investment in time and resources that you will be glad you made. I am!"
