As Senior Vice President of Merchandising at Walmart.com, Kelly Thompson oversees merchandise strategies, merchandise planning, product development and Walmart Marketplace for the online business of the world’s largest retailer. She was promoted to this position in early 2012.
Ms. Thompson joined Walmart.com in 2007 as vice president of home and family merchandising. She was promoted to vice president in 2008 and assumed additional responsibility for trend direction, product and pricing strategy, merchandise planning and merchandising investments. She manages a team of more than 150 and oversees all merchandise departments, including electronics, toys, sports, movies, books, video games, home furnishings, apparel, jewelry, outdoor living, appliances, baby and gift items, consumables, and health and wellness.
Prior to joining Walmart.com, Ms. Thompson spent 10 years at Gap, Inc., most recently as Divisional Merchandising Manager of the Adult Accessories Division Gap U.S. Prior to that role, she served as BabyGap’s Divisional Merchandising Manager, as well as additional field and merchandising roles. Earlier in her career, Ms. Thompson spent three years at Nordstrom in various management roles.
Ms. Thompson received a B.S in Biology from the University of California, San Diego.
