Tamara Davis
Combining a love of community with a head for business has given Tamara Davis, on the PBWC board of directors and a member, a lifetime of opportunities within one company.
Working at State Farm for nearly 30 years, Davis has had the versatility of having several careers with the enjoyment of a long-term relationship at on one corporation. "I've had several careers within this one corporate structure," Davis said. "This has enabled me to experience flexibility and personal growth while staying with State Farm which is a family to me."
Davis is currently the Public Affairs Manager for State Farm's North Coast Region, headquartered in Rohnert Park. Her community work helped her gain the qualifications for this position."I have been on a number of boards of directors and have been involved with many volunteer activities with State Farm's support," she said.
Davis is currently the Chairman of the Sonoma County School to Career partnership, as well as serving on the Sonoma County Business Education Roundtable, the Northern California Neighbor-Works Insurance Partnership and the Western Insurance Information Service, among others. Davis also served on the city council and as mayor of the city of Cotati.
"What I learned in working with a variety of organizations led me to the Public Affairs department within State Farm," Davis said. "Also, being involved with PBWC affords us exposure to other companies, ideas, and development opportunities though a variety of programs, including the annual conference. These activities add to our careers, give new energy and enthusiasm to our days and lead to a fulfilling life."
For the majority of Davis' State Farm career, she was a single mother. "I was fortunate, when my kids were young, to be working with a company that was very supportive of us as a family," she said.
Right now, Davis is excited about the future of State Farm and the business community. "Communications has just exploded with the internet and new technology," Davis said. "This is an exciting and innovative time for State Farm, our employees and agents. Our ability to deliver new products and services to our customers makes my job interesting and rewarding."
She also remarked, "I look forward to my continued relationship with the members of PBWC, which enhances my career, and adds enjoyment to my life."
