With the changing of the seasons, so are we. In this months Presidents letter I am happy to announce two changes in our 1998 plan. We are excited to announce that San Francisco will be hosting two conferences this year.
On April 14th Mayor Brown's Women's Summit will take place at the Moscone Convention Center. The Professional Business Women of California will follow six weeks later with the largest Women's Conference in California's history. On May 27th we will have the capacity for 10,000 women and 2000 girls. The PBWC board met in September for three days where we spent time developing a new mission, charter and redesigned ourselves and our principles. It was a true privilege for me to work with this incredibly inspiring and committed group of women. At the end of three days we had developed a charter that set forth our commitment to modeling responsible visionary leadership by providing creative resourceful solutions.
We are committed to act as advocates on behalf of our constituent communities; in particular women and girls. Our principles include: a fundamental belief in our responsibility for reflecting the equal participation of women and people of color in all facets of our work, advancing bold compelling ideas, maintaining a shared vision and focused purpose, developing product that is accessible and relevant. The second change in our 1998 plan relates to the leadership of our board. I have accepted new position as Chief Financial Officer of Charles Schwab Europe. My new assignment will take me to London for a year while I develop and integrate the Finance function. My responsibilities will also include the International Financial role relating to our global expansion.
So as PBWC begins its expansion in California Charles Schwab begins its Global expansion. This opportunity is very aligned with my personal and professional goals and comes at a great time in my life. I am very excited about my new opportunity and had only two difficulties to confront. The first was leaving my dog Cosmo behind and the second was resigning from my leadership role of PBWC. However, it is clear that my departure for England which is scheduled for Nov 7th precludes my ability to continue in the role of President of PBWC.
I am happy to announce that former President Eurnice Azzani will assume the interim leadership role and will lead the organization through the May conference. I know the future is in good hands and I am proud to have participated in the development and creation of this great organization. I intend to continue to participate remotely as a board member and I will return on May 27th to experience the fulfillment of our vision for 1998.
