President's Message
As new president, I am delighted and excited about the upcoming year.   We are looking forward to our most successful conference ever, to be held in San Jose on May 2, 2001.  We will be implementing the first phases of the strategic plan we developed last year.  One of the key elements will be to strengthen our web site and its utility.  In addition, we will be improving the business practices of the PBWC organization in order to continue to role model successful behaviors of professional business women.

We continue to celebrate the success of our 2000 conference.  It received some of our highest evaluations ever, with a host of excellent keynote speakers and a revised format for our seminars.  One of the most gratifying aspects of this year’s conference was the enthusiasm expressed by many of the girls and young women who attended the Conference and participated in the girls’ track.  An array of high-tech entrepreneurs, scientists and business leaders inspired these young women to pursue their dreams.  I hope you will read some of their comments, elsewhere in this newsletter.

As we start a new year, we salute the accomplishments of our retiring PBWC board members Roberta Palm Bradley, Tamara Davis, Lee Nold, Rayona Sharpnack and Cathie Bennett Warner.   These outstanding women have committed untold hours and countless efforts to supporting PBWC and our dedication to the advancement of women in the workplace.  We will miss not only their hard work but also their creativity, enthusiasm and humor.   But we count them as life-long friends and mentors.

We welcome with great excitement new members joining our board in the past few months, Dana Garel, Karen Johnson, Florence Kragen, Ylisa Sanford Seymour and Gwendolyn Wong.   We are truly fortunate to add these talented women, their ideas and perspectives, to our board.  With the revitalization that new members bring to the board, we are eagerly beginning the preparations for our 2001 conference.  I look forward to seeing you there!
