Look
for Integrity
|
By Pamela George
Normally, I like to work in companies that are either going through
some sort of rebuilding process or growing very rapidly. My advice,
therefore, is to go to work for companies in transition towards
positive growth.
What attracted me to Sybase was, number one, the integrity of the
company. After the experiences I've have endured in other corporations,
integrity is extremely important to me. As I went through the interview
process at Sybase, I met numerous people in the company and looked
specifically for integrity. It came through in several different
ways.
I'm glad to say after being at Sybase since April, 1999 that it
still shows itself in the way we conduct ourselves when we work
with each other inside the company. It shows in the kind of business
practices we employ on a day-to-day basis. It shows - and this is
important to me - in the reputation we have with our customers,
who know that we deal with them in a very open way and that we're
there for them. Partners like us. And many people in the marketplace
want to see our company succeed.
Another big thing for me is teamwork. I looked for evidence of teamwork
from the beginning. I found that this was a group of people who
were pulling together collectively and ready to go out and show
the world what a good company this is.
To sum up, I look for a company transitioning to positive growth
and I look for the integrity of the company, and evidence of teamwork.
