Plans are
already under way for the 2003 conference, scheduled for Thursday, May
1st, at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center. We have an exciting
lineup of exhibits, programs and speakers.
In this
issue of the PBWC newsletter, we have included a message from our new
President, Jackie McNab, information on a number of exciting events
for women brought to you by our partners, articles of interest and an
announcement about our audio tapes from our conference this year.

Without
any doubt, history books will record the past year as one of the most
challenging for our nation. As Americans, both our security and economic
stability have been threatened in ways that have stretched our human
capacity to comprehend. As professional businesswomen, many of us
this past year has had to reach way beyond prior thresholds to survive
and transcend market conditions.
The good
news is that as a nation and as women, we are survivors. The tests
of this past year have clearly demonstrated the resiliency of our
spirit as a people. We have set new standards for survival, and we
will continue to grow and thrive.
As the
new PBWC board president for 2003, I look to this year as an opportunity
to reaffirm our past successes as an organization and to strengthen
our direction for growth. From my predecessors, I am inheriting an
awesome legacy:
- Approximately
5,000 professional businesswomen and 500 girls attended the 2002
conference.
- We
received very enthusiastic and positive feedback on all speakers,
programs and exhibits at the 2002 conference.
- Sponsorship
increased by 15% over the prior year.
I am
delighted to have the privilege to continue to demonstrate our prowess
as professional businesswomen. (Read

for the Cure® Women in Business Roundtable - WIBR Team

Join
the team and participate in either the 1-mile walk or 5k run to eradicate
breast cancer OR pledge a WIBR team member. The Women in Business
Roundtable committee members are coordinating team members again this
year to walk/run together in the San Francisco Race for the Cure®
at Sharon Meadows, Golden Gate Park. In our first Race For the Cure,
WIBR team members raised over $7,000, and this year our goal is $10,000!
We also have hot pink team visors for sale this year for only $5!

TV Market A Leader When It Comes to Women GM's
The
San Francisco television market, the fifth largest is the nation,
has become a leader in regard to stations headed by female general
managers. As of this summer three more women have signed on as GM's
of Bay Area television stations, two of which are major broadcast
outlets. Valeri Staab signed on as the head of ABC's owned and operated
station, ABC7 (KGO-TV) and Linda Sullivan became GM of NBC's new Bay
Area flagship, NBC3 (formerly KNTV). Also taking the reigns as a station
leader is Debbie Fraser, the new GM of KTLN, a cable channel based
