After the success of the May conference some questions were posed by some of our PBWC members, where do we go from here? What is our long term vision and how do we continue to position ourselves for making a difference locally, nationally, and globally for all women? Is just one conference a year, enough? In October, the PBWC Board of Directors held it's annual retreat which started the continuing process of strategic planning. I say continuing because we discovered very quickly that it would take more than one day to create a new vision and complete a strategic planning process. However, we embarked on a very exciting and successful day as we started the process by revisiting our mission statement and drafting a new vision for PBWC.
The draft mission statement was then presented to our focus groups in October. It is very important to us that we are listening to you, our, audience as we go through this process.
If you have any input on what services you would like to see, what direction you feel PBWC should be heading or any suggestions that would assist us in creating this new vision, please let us know. You can fax your suggestions directly to me at (415) 744-6812 and I will make sure all input I receive is presented at the next strategic planning meeting scheduled in January. Remember your input is important to us, this is your organization and PBWC should meet your needs and expectations, whether it be personal or professional.
We are also looking at building strategic alliances with other organizations that have the same vision as PBWC hopefully creating greater opportunity and broader services for our members. We are scheduling quarterly events, the first was the repeat of "Women in Transition", presented in September in San Francisco.
In order to reach our entire membership we are scheduling two spring events, one in San Francisco and the other in the Southbay. Watch for dates and times. PBWC has also advanced into the world of technology with our own web site. You will be able to retrieve information regarding upcoming events, participate in chat sites and down load materials normally handed out at workshops.
These are just a few of the new services we are working on. We are very excited about these new changes and look forward to creating a new future vision for PBWC.
