Professional BusinessWomen of California Conference touts messages of empowerment

SACRAMENTO – On November 9, 2006, over 3,000 women are anticipated to participate in the Professional BusinessWomen of California (PBWC) conference, Take Charge: Unleashing your Potential, at the Sacramento Convention Center. The conference—formerly The Sacramento Bee’s “A Woman’s Day” — will be packed with tools, resources, training and inspiration for today’s working woman.

“The PBWC is honored to have the opportunity to lead and expand the conference, with a renewed focus on encouraging women to take control of their lives and careers,” said Ruth Stergiou, Executive Director of the PBWC. “This is truly a unique event for women of all ages, races and professions.”

Women from Stockton to Sonoma are expected to attend—joining 150 exhibitors and over 20 speakers— making it the largest and most dynamic women’s conference in the Sacramento region.

Conference speakers include PBWC founder Senator Jackie Speier, Marty Evans, President and CEO of the American Red Cross, Mariel Hemingway, actor, mother, author and owner of the Sacred Cow Yoga Studio and Marcela Perez de Alonzo, Executive Vice President of Human Resources at Hewlett-Packard Company.

This year, the PBWC is offering new additions to the conference, including a unique program that will reach women of high school age. Also, the PBWC is now offering the Corporate Pacesetter Award, which honors those companies that are dedicated to advancing women into the highest positions in their companies.
