Goals of PBWC

PBWC seeks to advance the professional and personal development of women by providing tools, resources, training and inspiration. The PBWC conference is a leading forum for women leaders to gain instant access to a large network of other professionals, mentor and role model and foster upward career mobility.

What is PBWC?

Founded by State Senator Jackie Speier in 1989, The Professional BusinessWomen of California is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to accelerating the advancement of women in the workplace. The focal event produced by the organization is an annual conference designed to give businesswomen access to the tools and connections they need to succeed. The conference is the longest running and largest gathering of executive women in Northern California.

The 15th Annual PBWC conference will take place in San Francisco on May 4, 2004 with an expected attendance of over 5,000 dynamic professional women.

The Audience

The PBWC Conference brings businesswomen of different generations, backgrounds, industries and experiences together to discuss the key issues in their lives, including personal development and career advancement. More than 34,000 women from the Bay Area have benefited from past conferences.

  • The majority of conference attendees are employed by major corporations (68%,) primarily Fortune 500 companies, another
  • 20% are entrepreneurs or employees of small businesses.
  • An additional segment comprises professionals, non-profit and public sector employees.
  • The average annual income of attendees is $81,000.
  • 90% of our audience falls in the age range of 26-55 years with
  • 64% in between 36-45 years of age. The mean age is 40 years.
  • 76% of the women in our audience are funded by their companies to attend the conference.
