We have also included our mentorship program links. We have posted them in sections for your convenience.
PBWC includes in our mission a goal of providing information about mentorship programs. The following organizations are available to assist you whether you wish to be a mentor or mentee. Women's Business
Center The Women's Business Center, Inc. describes itself as a collaborative organization designed to encourage and support women in all phases of enterprise development. It provides access to educational programs, financing alternatives, technical assistance, advocacy and a network of mentors, peer advisors and business and professional consultants. Mentoring
Circles The Women in Business Mentorship Program, has contributed to the women-owned business community in the San Francisco Bay Area over the past eight years through educational seminars and a mentor matching program. The mission of Mentoring Circles is to bring women entrepreneurs together to share business and leadership skills through a mentoring relationship based on mutual learning and growth. Mentoring Circles believes that women can help each other in achieving business success, and that women can promote a nurturing, collaborative leadership style that will bring positive changes to business culture. Since 1992, Mentoring Circles
has touched the lives of over 400 women. We have facilitated
over 220 successful mentor-protegee matches, and provided
over a dozen educational seminars. The program has grown
steadily over the years, and we currently average 40 matches
every year. For Women Who Wish To Mentor Young Women Girls For A Change Girls For A Change empowers young urban women to create change in their neighborhoods and form authentic relationships with professional women. Women volunteers, called coaches, work with girls in small teams of 10 girls from March through November to guide them through the process of identifying a community issue, developing a project that addresses that issue and then implementing the project. We are looking for women to join us as we have 1,200 young women ready to be leaders and we need professional women to support them starting in January and February. Teams meet twice a month and we are looking for coaches in Santa Clara County, East Palo Alto and Oakland. Girls For A Change offers training and support for all women volunteers. This is a chance for women to make a difference in the lives of urban girls, learn transferable job skills and network with other women in the Bay Area. We are currently in need of coaches and have other more flexible positions available as well. Girls For A Change is working to change the world by putting girls at the global leadership table. Mentoring Partnership Since 1995, over 340,000 mentee matches have provided support to California's youth through mentor programs. Yet tens of thousands of young people are still waiting for a mentor. Therefore, Governor Schwarzenegger has a goal for the Governor's Mentoring Partnership (GMP) of recruiting, training and matching quality mentors to reach one million young people by 2005. This goal is being achieved by working with quality programs who emphasize both the safety and development of mentees.
