Brandi Chastain
Brandi Chastain provided one of the greatest
moments in women's sports history in 1999 with her Women's
World Cup clinching penalty kick in the global competition
championship soccer game. In 2000, she was a member of the
U.S. Olympic team that gained a silver medal at the summer
games in Australia. Ms. Chastain made her first appearance
with the U.S. National Team in 1986, and was a member of
the World Cup Championship squad in 1991. That year, she
scored five consecutive goals versus Mexico, still a team
record. Currently, she is an Assistant Coach for the University
of Santa Clara women’s soccer team. Ms. Chastain is
a founding player of the WUSA Champion San Jose CyberRays
professional soccer team.

Susan M. Love
Susan M. Love, M.D., M.B.A. is an author, teacher, surgeon
and researcher. An Adjunct Professor of Surgery at UCLA
and the Medical Director of the Susan Love M.D. Breast Cancer
Foundation, she is also one of the founders and a board
member of the National Breast Cancer Coalition. Dr. Love
lectures nationally and internationally on breast cancer,
menopause, and women's health, has been awarded six honorary
doctorate degrees, and is the author of Dr. Susan Love's
Breast Book and Dr. Susan Love's Hormone Book.

Olympia Dukakis
Olympia Dukakis is currently appearing at A.C.T. in Michel
Tremblay's For the Pleasure of Seeing Her Again. She has
appeared in more than 200 productions on and off Broadway
and in regional theaters throughout the United States. Her
many film credits include Moonstruck, for which she earned
an Academy Award and Golden Globe Award, Mr. Holland's Opus,
Steel Magnolias, and Dad. Films recently released include
Strange Relations and The Last of the Blonde Bombshells.
Films to be released are The Event and The Intended, directed
by Kristan Levring. Television credits include Tales of
the City, More Tales of the City, Lucky Day, Sinatra, The
Last Act Is a Solo (ACE Award), and Young at Heart. As a
founding member and producing artistic director of the Whole
Theatre in Montclair, New Jersey (1971-90), Dukakis received
the Governor's Walt Whitman Creative Arts Award. She is
a founding member of the National Museum of Women in the
Arts.

PBWC Breakthrough Award Recipient
- Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi
Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi was elected by her colleagues
on October 10, 2001, to become House Democratic Whip, the
highest-ranking woman in the history of the U.S. Congress.
In this capacity, she is a national spokesperson for the
party and is responsible for the party's legislative strategy
in the House and for keeping members informed about upcoming
issues and votes. Congresswoman Pelosi has represented California's
8th Congressional District, which includes most of the City
of San Francisco, since 1987. A Democrat with deep political
roots, she has focused primarily on the issues of education,
health care, housing, and environmental protection.
The PBWC Breakthrough Award is designed to recognize
outstanding women who have not only made a significant career
breakthrough in their professional lives, but have made
an extraordinary contribution to the advancement of women
in the workplace.

Bertice Berry
Bertice Berry, Ph.D. is a leading inspirational
speaker also known as the "smart with a heart"
talk show host. The best-selling author of the memoir, I'm
On My Way, But Your Foot is on My Head, as well as Sckraight
From the Ghetto, her first work of fiction, Redemption
Song, published in 2000, is now in its sixth printing
and was praised by USA Today as "fun and entertaining
but also enlightening." Dr. Berry graduated magna
cum laude from Jacksonville University, where she was
awarded the President's Cup for leadership, and earned a
Ph.D. in Sociology from Kent State University.

Sze is weekday co-anchor for
the ABC-7 Midday News and a general assignment reporter for
the station's newscasts at 5 and 6 p.m. She previously anchored
the station's weekday morning show, weekend newscasts and
the ABC-7 Sunday morning news. Fluent in Mandarin Chinese,
Ms. Sze won a 1999 Emmy Award. |

Lee Allen began her career
with KGO Newstalk AM 810 in 1983, and in 1984 began a 16-year
stint as co-anchor of the KGO Afternoon News. The recipient
of numerous industry awards, she received the American Women
in Radio and Television's Kudo Award as "Best News Anchor"
in June 2000. |

Thuy
Vu joined ABC-7 News in 2000
as co-anchor of the station's Sunday Morning News as well
as a reporter based in the South Bay Bureau. Born in Saigon,
Vietnam, last year she received an award from the American
Women in Radio and Television as "Best Reporter"
in the Bay Area.
