Olympia Dukakis

Olympia Dukakis is currently appearing at A.C.T. in Michel Tremblay's For the Pleasure of Seeing Her Again. She has appeared in more than 200 productions on and off Broadway and in regional theaters throughout the United States. Her many film credits include Moonstruck, for which she earned an Academy Award and Golden Globe Award, Mr. Holland's Opus, Steel Magnolias, and Dad. Films recently released include Strange Relations and The Last of the Blonde Bombshells. Films to be released are The Event and The Intended, directed by Kristan Levring. Television credits include Tales of the City, More Tales of the City, Lucky Day, Sinatra, The Last Act Is a Solo (ACE Award), and Young at Heart. As a founding member and producing artistic director of the Whole Theatre in Montclair, New Jersey (1971-90), Dukakis received the Governor's Walt Whitman Creative Arts Award. She is a founding member of the National Museum of Women in the Arts.

PBWC Breakthrough Award Recipient - Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi

Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi was elected by her colleagues on October 10, 2001, to become House Democratic Whip, the highest-ranking woman in the history of the U.S. Congress. In this capacity, she is a national spokesperson for the party and is responsible for the party's legislative strategy in the House and for keeping members informed about upcoming issues and votes. Congresswoman Pelosi has represented California's 8th Congressional District, which includes most of the City of San Francisco, since 1987. A Democrat with deep political roots, she has focused primarily on the issues of education, health care, housing, and environmental protection.
