Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology The Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology (ABI) is a non-profit organization changing the world for women and technology. ABI provides resources and programs to help industry, academia and government recruit, retain and develop women leaders in high technology careers. Founded in 1997 by Dr. Anita Borg (1949-2003) ABI's mission is two-fold:
Led by President, Dr. Telle Whitney, ABI accomplishes its mission through specific programs: The Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing conference, The Systers online community, TechLeaders, the Virtual Development Center, the Anita Borg Awards and the Women of Vision Awards. These numerous platforms ensure women's voices, ideas and spirits influence technology and change the world for women and for technology. International Museum of Women The mission of the International Museum of Women is to value the lives of women around the world. We envision a world where all voices are heard and valued equally and each person is treated with respect and dignity; a society free from inequality, oppression and discrimination, where each person is in control of her/his own destiny and where people work together to find peaceful resolution to conflict. We will contribute to this world by amplifying the voices of women through history, the arts and cultural programs that educate, create dialogue, build community, and inspire action. With our commitment to cultural change, the Museum advances the human right to gender equity worldwide. A guiding concept for the International Museum of Women is to offer educational and entertaining programs and exhibits for adults, youth and children alike. The Museum seeks to explore the global history of women and contemporary gender issues, and through education, serve as a catalyst for positive change. San Francisco State University College of Extended Learning The College of Extended Learning at San Francisco State University offers a wide variety of continuing adult education courses and programs to prepare you for career advancement, career change, or personal growth. It offers nationally acclaimed curricula and faculty; weekend, evening, and online courses; plus access to thousands of transferable degree-credit university classes. Continuing Education Credit Women's Initiative for Self-Employment Since 1988, Women's Initiative has been assisting high-potential low-income women who dream of business ownership. Through our 10-week program women are enabled to start or expand their business. Our mission is to build the entrepreneurial capacity of women to overcome economic and social barriers and achieve self-sufficiency. Women's Initiative has proven that women create jobs for themselves and others, access the mainstream economy, and increase their economic self-sufficiency when they are given business planning and financing support.
