PBWC Pacesetter Award
The Top Bay Area Companies for Businesswomen

At the 2004 conference in San Francisco, the PBWC will announce the second annual Pacesetter Award in its fifteen year history. PBWC honors the top Bay Area companies that embody the mission of our organization and that work to advance women in the workplace on an ongoing basis.

This award will be presented each year at the PBWC conference.

What Does It Take to Be a Top Company?

The 2004 Pacesetter Award winners are listed below in ranked order. Here is the criteria used in ranking each company and determining this year's winners:

Percentage of women executives in the Bay Area defined as vice president or equivalent and above
Percentage of women corporate officers
Percentage of women directors on the board
Percentage of women employees in the Bay Area
Development and continuing support of programs that benefit women in the workplace

State Farm is a mutually held company.
4.	The percentage of women board directors was benchmarked against the 2003 Catalyst Census and the 2004 Corporate Women Directors International report.
