15 Jun With Pride
Dear PBWC Community,
We are strong. We are steadfast. We will not stop until there is equal access to opportunity for all.
And so, 50+ years after Stonewall, we stand with the LGBTQ+ community to express our pride in who we are, how we identify and whom we love.
We celebrate this year’s Pride month while battling twin pandemics: COVID-19 and the scourge of systemic racism that has plagued our country since its inception. Even so, we take a moment to look back with pride and awe at the powerful activism of the LGBTQ+ community that has propelled this country and the world forward to greater mutual understanding, acceptance, respect and representation. Yes, there is still much more to do, but the progress since Stonewall is real, and the momentum is tangible.
One of PBWC’s greatest achievements happened at last year’s 30th anniversary conference. When we welcomed the unstoppable Geena Rocero to our mainstage, we signified that cis or trans, we are all women, and our struggle for equality is shared and collective.
The mission of the LGBTQ+ movement—respect, dignity and equality for all—has never been more relevant. Our country is hurting. Our country is mourning. The way forward can only be a path defined by inclusivity with equality as our North Star.
So, to celebrate Pride month, use your privilege—however great or small, to work for equality in your company, your community, and all across our great country.
Only together can we achieve the change we so dearly need to see.
With Pride,
PBWC Board of Directors and Management Team
