Congratulations to PBWC’s 2024 Scholarship Recipients!

“I love engineering of all kinds, and am especially passionate about using my knowledge to give back to my community, such as by organizing workshops for underrepresented groups in STEM like girls and students with disabilities. Through my personal projects, like building an app that serves thousands of individuals across 27 countries, I strive to be a changemaker.”

RACHEL MA
PBWC CHARLES SCHWAB SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

“I founded the first all-girls club at my school, Girls for Health and Human Rights, and Salud Y Justicia, an organization and internship program that empowers high school girls to plan and lead a health and rights fair that connects immigrant women with medical and legal resources. I aspire to become an OBGYN and ultimately become Surgeon General for the state of California.”

NYELLI CEJA
PBWC SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

“I plan on studying bioengineering to innovate biotechnology for women’s health and spearhead a future for inclusive science. Ultimately, I hope to innovate human-centered solutions to expand the accessibility and affordability of healthcare for everyone—no matter their socioeconomic background or geographical origin.”

RACHEL KIM
PBWC SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

“I immigrated from Mexico to San Diego, California. I see the struggles of immigrant communities firsthand, which inspires me to delve into the laws affecting them. It’s my dream that, as a future lawyer, I can found a non-profit that provides legal and financial assistance to minorities like myself who struggle with finding purpose and knowledge in opportunities.”

DANIELA CADENA
PBWC SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

“At 14 I founded my nonprofit Baila Conmigo, scaling the business to help 1,200+ Latino elementary students attain financially accessible dance opportunities across California. Today, I lead Granada Hills Charter’s DECA student association as President and co-founded a youth association, Women in Business, a mentorship program with Pepperdine.”

MAKYLA CERVANTES
PBWC FINANCIAL TRENDSETTERS SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

“I am passionate about innovating solutions that elevate the voices of marginalized communities and youth. As founder of my school’s first youth-led mental health advocacy group and lead facilitator of my county’s advisory group, I utilize communication, leadership, and my identity as an Asian American woman to improve the mental health of my community locally and globally.”

MISAKI NGUYEN
PBWC LOREN MAHON BOOK SCHOLARSHIP

“I’m committed to the dual study of medicine and history through integrative medicine research and the analysis of complementary medicines used by historically marginalized communities. I will continue utilizing my interests in journalism and science to provide comfortable therapy suited to each individual and ensure patients better understand their treatment options.”

LYNN DAI
PBWC LOREN MAHONO BOOK SCHOLARSHIP

“My involvement with computer science and engineering has opened doors for me that have taught me invaluable lessons about growth and have uncovered the potential that lies within the field. Simply put, I like that engineering is the way we solve problems, allowing us to make changes for matters we care about.”

PBWC’s Scholarship Program provides exceptional young women leaders with funds to help cover the costs of their undergraduate studies.

As of 2023, PBWC has awarded over half a million dollars in scholarships—and individual awards of up to $15,000—to high-achieving female high school seniors.

Funds will be sent directly to an accredited college or university where the awardee is enrolled in an undergraduate academic program.

Please consider donating to the young women leaders of tomorrow as they embark on their educational journeys. Contributions of any size are appreciated. 100% of donations directly fund our Scholarship Program.
